Euro-Mediterranean atelier for audiovisual arts and artificial intelligence
Three artist residencies, three production crews, an atelier in Cagliari where new audiovisual languages can be explored through artificial intelligence. A shared creative journey, where learning takes shape through the creation of original works.
JOIN NUR
Learn by making. Create together.
NUR is an atelier that brings together artists and professionals from the local area and the international scene to explore new audiovisual languages through artificial intelligence and create original works in Sardinia.
In Cagliari, each artist or collective in residence collaborates with a local crew, sharing skills, tools and creative processes. Learning emerges from working together and accompanies the entire journey: from the masterclass to daily experimentation, from developing the idea to creating the work.
The works will be presented at a public event dedicated to sharing the results and engaging in dialogue with their creators. They will also become part of NUR’s freely accessible multimedia series and be promoted through a national and international dissemination campaign.
Promoted by Centro Italo-arabo e del Mediterraneo – Sardegna with support from the Autonomous Region of Sardinia.
TWO SECTIONS, ONE ATELIER
SECTION A — Artists in residence
Three residencies for artists, filmmakers and digital creatives who have produced at least one audiovisual work in which artificial intelligence plays a significant creative role.
Applicants may participate individually or as a collective. All participants must be adults; each collective may have a maximum of two members hosted in residence.
One residency is reserved for an artist born, resident or domiciled in Sardinia. The other two are open to Italian and international applicants from any background.
Fee and resources
Each residency includes a fee of 600 euros gross per week and a production budget of up to 2,000 euros.
SECTION B — Production crews
An opportunity for adults born, resident or domiciled in Sardinia with audiovisual, technical, production or generative artificial intelligence skills.
Participants will be organised into three crews of 2 to 4 people, each working alongside an artist in residence. The programme includes attendance at the masterclass, at least ten production days and participation in the final event.
In the event of equal scores, priority will be given to applicants under 35 years of age.
Fee and recognition
Each member will receive 100 euros gross for each day of participation in the project, a participation certificate and a mention in the work’s credits.
Applicants may apply to both sections.

THE WORKS
NUR supports the creation of original audiovisual works lasting 3–15 minutes: short films, video art, experimental works or documentaries that explore a creative and informed use of artificial intelligence.
The works must be subtitled in Italian and English or accompanied by educational and explanatory materials that make them easier to understand.
Dialogue with Sardinia and the Euro-Mediterranean area is encouraged: places, communities, languages, memories and landscapes may become the material or context of artistic research, without constituting a thematic constraint.
